Involved in fire and EMS for over 45 years, Deputy Chief Bernie Meehan Jr., whose comfort zone is chaos, has participated in over 400 critical incident debriefings. He was one of the paramedics responding to the Sandy Hook shooting. A true icon of emergency services in Connecticut, Chief Meehan is an expert in Peer Support and Finding an Appropriate Clinician in the “New” Emergency Services.
A Career firefighter for 35 years, and an active Paramedic for past 38 years, Bernie has been involved in both career and volunteer fields. He is a founding member of Connecticut CISD Team in 1988 and is a Peer Helper trained in both fire and law enforcement disciplines.
