welcome to the BevMo show Oscar
thank you for taking my pleasure
call Pierre you are one of the most successful Cuban American actors of a generation I've read that everywhere that means congratulations and I must say you know
I have read a little bit here a little bit there but what amazes me is I read about how you fell into acting in high school when you really wanted to be a sorry that right I play baseball my whole life I have been naturally until that point and
honestly I wasn't good enough to make a living as a professional baseball player but that's a whole different and at the time I was in college and I needed an elective and I asked my girlfriend at the time if you could please sign me up for class sign up for some classes I said can you send me a photo already
so she thought it would be funny and weird
artistic keyboard
what did I did an exercise in the class I was supposed to go up on stage and doing exercise and the teacher said you need to do something so I can give you a grade so you don't have to if you're not stuck without exercise
it was a personal experience to up on stage a moment in your life
and my grandma had passed away a few years before and I remember thing to buy to her
go in the room and single by with you the last day that they were going to disconnect to shave the tubes on
and so I planned like you okay I remember growing up and reading some 23rd to her going in and bring some 24th Road favorite song
very simple imagine that she's laying there
and now with some 20 said to her imaginary Grandma now
imaginary grandma
pretty simple.
and in the moment I started getting closer to where in my head I have placed my grandmother
it felt very real to me
and then to see things that happens sometimes when you're
when you're acting you creating a moment is that the moment or maybe not
call Lily Hopkins
or maybe the car how's it should happen
on the reality of the month and what happened to me was I broke down I try to call you
I woke up and started crying and I just everything that I have planned on all day I'm going to come get a word out and all I do is hug my imaginary friend and I called you I was you know how that came about I'm in. That just really caught my eye when I read that you know how you you know got started and how you know you have one Focus you know and then you drifted to another and here you are well one thing that's good is that you are currently saying is I don't know if the series is still going on no six episodes so far and stars is on Starz gas-lit
actually it was eight episodes to keep going because it's based on the Watergate Story the true story of Watergate
it's basically a movie be honest
Captain Fantastic
what the heck
God is in this story
is the song
feels like it's too much
story
the interview with actor ostrich or a container

Vinny Malone and Tyler Perry series show ended last year I was on a wow and itself and working with Tyler Perry
how to see how he works he looks very sad and to me as a I also direct more than anybody does how he works out quickly and efficiently as welcome.
The 2020 that I directed a movie I wrote and directed the movie and seeing how he worked kind of influence how I did to myself for financial reasons but the longer you take the more money
the meal was a blessing working Tyler
Yahoo goes on to become the head of the Italian mafia
I'm one of the son of the head neck and left for dead and I'm laying there later
I grabbed the it was my nephew I believe I grabbed his arm
honestly I thought and then I'm like I lift my hands up in the air in the gym before looking at me like I was crazy
oh my God that was just be loads of fun just or is that crew I mean I just can't imagine
I really enjoy working with Tyler then and we'll do it again in a heartbeat and working Atlanta then I really like I really like working Atlanta fun place to work at
I just had to ask about that because when I saw the Haves and Have Nots online love that loved it and import there by Harry you know you know what the director and I was just talking to call Jerome
I need something but like it
it was weird
and I thought people with people when I was try to find a good enough and what they're fighting for and why they do what they doing instead of Joy. I don't judge my character so why am I at least that's the way I played him
the beautiful thing is that later on people I thought would hate my family he was all about the family
where I was broken at the bottom
you know Babe Ruth
I'm looking for
this is the best more show live streaming on the iHeart Network on / 185 broadcast stations and 37 countries around the world and has more
as a veteran you get a lot of advice but wisdom is harder to come by a lot of people imagine themselves in our shoes without understanding the weight on our shoulders the truth is if you can understand the pressure of finding your own way after serving in the military but a few isn't none steady yourself you're not alone you got support
learn more at make the connection. Net and the boat man you have an award nomination for the best
the strange film but it is bringing people were from from Mexico to the US but he's not like he's a good guy but he's not per se but he's out of it
he's also an alcoholic and he doesn't really like people
so it was it was interesting to play characters that type of layers and Oscar nominee was Star Wars and the Star Wars
movie directed by Craig Morgan
yeah
I think the English name of its Rabe Thief that
action comedy
and that was the first time that I did comedy on on film
nothing like all the roles that people want to see me afterwards 2006/2007
and that was it was a high school to Spanish movie of the time opening weekend
so it is the first time that that was produced by the director was there is one thing I want to talk about I want to talk about your performance as the officer that Officer Vasquez Vasquez brought so much fun
it was a lot of fun it was a lot of fun I really could be late getting everybody wants to be a movie
that I was playing that so I and then I did one the other day and then they called me for call back and then I'm walking directed Joker
I'm at Todd and I read with you
and that went really well and then I didn't hear anything okay
and then I heard that I got the I got the job do you have a funny story that happened on Saturday anything that you know pops out of your mind I have a funny story but it was funny. Mikey said play some Mexico so we shot those things first and then we shot the other since I came before that which is me in the police station
show my first thing was no Arizona on the scene is that I walk out of the police station was with Bradley Cooper Zach Galifianakis and that help
and tell him that they're free to go and I take out a cigarette I light it and I'm smoking a cig
and nothing was important that I smoke because that was my stupid walking out of station
I'm not a smoker so how's the first child I can smoke with you smoke a camera but I'm always worried about that don't smoke and smoke a very comfortable with the biggest it looks like they're so concerned about
office so I can tell if somebody doesn't smoke when I see him I'm moving at work
I wanted that to be
I wasn't nervous about being nervous about working all these people or is such a huge star walk out of the police station
and I like to see what's happening
at least 50 extra to make it look like this police station in the middle
vendors the cars passing by making it look like Mexico people walk in the little fishy that we decided I suddenly released
and then and then a limousine and they get in the car
get in the car
in the car
so what happened with the queue for everything to move for the car to come across around the corner for the street vendor for the guy in the little bicycle for the old lady with the kids watching for people walking out of
going to stop by there cuz everytime I would like to see people walk
is it really windy
you have somebody who is not a smoker
and it's clean and the wind is blowing hard and everytime I would like my cigarettes and I tried again and I wouldn't go on
we did a few and I was getting so frustrated and the director
I need you like the secret I know what happens with that I forgot I forgot
get in the car
what's going on hey what's going on for Christmas
but it didn't make it to the Moon
it was my mic I feel like you work so hard all week later we're in La shooting machine that takes place before which is inside the police station I'm questioning
directions to me
I said the police station so I had a vision to see you tomorrow you're like
4 for the whole week between scenes
I want to make sure they have an issue when I was in shooting the scene inside the station for week to make sure I smoke right in the sea
before I bring money. I will bring my heart
thesaurus
I want to know you I want to find you and never sees you
I want to know you
find you and I will bring by and pick you up
Madness and never come back
yerba mate
the nothing never
my interview with actors screenwriter producer director Oscar Torres continues after the break
we are strong we are resilient and we will get through this together but these are stressful times and it's important to also practice good self-care it's normal to feel overwhelmed anxious or afraid but there is hope reach out to someone connect with your friends stay in touch with your community and know that you are not alone learn more at we are broadcasters. Com hope furnished by the National Association of broadcasters and this station
being an actor to a director because you know you've got an award-winning short film just a man and a woman it's in sync
you might not be thinking of what you think
but that's how I started that movie luckily got this and then we got Distribution Company by the name of India
and then it came out on Amazon to buy iTunes bunch of thank God and
and I said to my wife you know I have the story that I wrote
I'll call just a man and a woman
I won't be able to say that just because I feel like I feel like I need to drive
so that's when he just added a man and a woman. It's a little short film. Very quickly
so we did that and then a few weeks later than just a minute and now someone that I really want I want and rewards and all that
sitting at home I will see how people were at all ways of communicating and connecting with other humans
a lot of people want to leave their homes at all
so I kept thinking of the movie here somewhere and I don't want the movie to focus on how
people were communicating and doing this time I don't want to give too much away but it's called and that was a
very small film that we shot basically at the house
and I'm like so if you want to make a movie in my house for filming
anyways yeah he's going crazy trying to be creative
like I said this woman everything she's going through or doing 24 hours in her life everything she's going through an hour and different people
people telling their story I want to capture a moment
last I was storacle
without having the will you have the you have the benefit of time passing puts things into perspective for sight of life okay how am I going to feel about what's going on right now
I want captured only got to leave so I don't know how long it's going to last
I want to basically and so I did this wrong road to the show and we just finished the movie and that I played one of the Liberals
Mexico last year and it's one of the counter something you
before the film and the character in this and hopefully it'll come up I'm sure they'll sell it and you can check out the movie
okay well we'll get close to that make sure you get some information to me I'll post it to get the word out for you okay great you know they said that you infuse both your performance your performances and films you know it was a co-op in just depends.
I would have to say just by listening to you throughout this interview that has to be your Mantra of success
thank you thank you
try to find with every characters in The Human Side to them
you know I don't have any more everything you're doing
I tried to have
I don't have to like what they're doing but I can have empathy I can find the thing of you.
That changes everything for me that then I can play I can be able to do that and you've obviously done so that I may be played so many roles that is very commendable I can't wait to follow up on all of them so is nurse and I want to follow up. I'm sure you'd have is it is it Instagram is the best way to block you know when project 2 coming out
my Instagram is so sorry okay. You people who are just starting their careers
I say in my industry I say we're at a time
cheap and easy to use and already know how use a lot of stuff
on the phone with the video
to give you an opportunity write your own story doesn't matter that I would be good you don't don't just or put her on tape put it out there let people see your work you're crazy take you can take control of your career
now and do it if you're passionate about it is this is something that you absolutely need to do.
And do something else or to be wealthy to do something else because you have better odds at something else but if you do want to stories that you want to tell
please tell them and don't wait for the world to give you
5 Million Dollar Tree in going to the movie or give you a Libra right yourself that rule recorded with your phone
record it with the iPhone
we did it with the iPhone
I just played all over the world
excuse
yeah you write your own story put yourself on camera what can you craft a very competitive field
very competitive. Make sure you're busted
don't compare yourself to anybody else don't worry that's called soul is more talented than you or someone feels better looking than you or space for your voice before what do you have to say and then it's important
sounds like me like me
I want to know that
can you capture you put on paper you put on paper
we live in a time that you know of your young person and the you have to be youngsters always reply to that
don't talk about it do it great advice great advice thank you all for being my guest on the bedroom or show this week I hope you enjoyed my very accomplished gift screen writer producer director Oscar Torres thank you for listening to the Bev Moore Show I'm Bev Moore until next time.
