Diane Pomerance, Ph.D. is the author of nine nonfiction books most of which are nonfiction about animals, including "When Your Pet Dies", "Animal Companions: In Our Hearts, Our Lives & Our World", "Animal Companions: Your Friends, Teachers & Guides", "Animal Elders: Caring About Our Aging Animal Companions", "Finding Peace After the Loss of a Beloved Animal Companion", "Pet Parenthood: Adopting the Right Animal Companion for You" and "Our Rescue Dog Family Album" which is an homage to the forty-three neglected and abused animals she rescued, socialized and adopted over the past several decades. Dr. Pomerance is highly regarded as a "pet expert" and also a grief counselor has created and directs the Pet Grief Counseling Program for the SPCA of Texas in Dallas. Now, in its eighteenth year, the program helps people cope with and recover from the loss of a beloved animal companion. Its services are offered free to the public.
Dr. Pomerance is an ardent animal lover and activist, and has a profound respect for nature and all living creatures.
